Black Mountain Golf Club
As the name "Black Mountain" suggests, this is a desert-like valley course with a large difference in elevation that unfolds between small mountains with large black rock faces. Water hazards and bunkers are strategically placed at key points, making it a very challenging course. The fairways are designed to be wide for average hitters, but the further the tee shot flies, the narrower the fairways become, making it difficult for long hitters. The greens are large, and most of them are on the receiving end.
This is a hilly course with 36 holes. Many mounds are laid on the fairways, testing the skill of the shots from various lies. The fairways are relatively wide, but the greens are small, so the hole width gets smaller as you get closer to the target. Water is involved in 8 of the 9 holes on the out course. It is also characterized by many attractive par 3s.
This is a hilly course with 27 holes. The 18-hole Lake & Valley Course was designed by Cherd Bunyaratavej, and in 2008 the 9-hole Mountain Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, was added. The Mountain Course has a layout that makes good use of the natural surroundings, with many holes with large elevation changes and each hole being unique, including four left doglegs. The Valley Course makes good use of natural ponds on several holes, and accuracy is more important than distance.
This is a hilly course built on a pineapple plantation, taking advantage of the natural terrain. The mountain scenery is stunning and harmonizes with each hole. Playing from the front tees is short and not particularly difficult, but playing from the back tees comes into play with water, bunkers and hazards, making it a very challenging course. The nine outward holes in particular are highly refined. Many of the greens are long and narrow, testing the accuracy of your shots and your sense of distance.
This is a hilly course with little elevation difference. There are many water hazards, but they are not very effective. The first hole is separated by palm trees, but the fairway is wide, so you can hit your driver shot with all your might. Water hazards are involved on the 12th hole, but they are not very effective. Another feature is the large greens. You can play casually and get a good score. This is a typical resort course.
A hilly, wooded course. The course faces the sea and is surrounded on three sides by forested hills with abundant trees. The out hole is relatively flat, while the in hole makes use of the natural terrain and has a large difference in elevation. Many holes have tight fairways and are guarded by trees on both sides, so accurate shots are required. There are dozens of peacocks living on the course, and there are many trees with red flowers that look like autumn leaves, so there are many other things to see apart from playing.
This 27-hole course unfolds on a flat terrain. Many holes involve water and the bunkers are well placed. You can enjoy playing with the majestic mountains as a backdrop.
A forest course that makes the most of the natural terrain. It is the oldest golf course in Thailand. It has 80 years of history, and the layout is said to have been improved by a major remodeling in the 1980s. It is adjacent to Hua Hin Station on the Thai-Singapore Railway.
A flat seaside course. A railroad track crosses the middle of the course, dividing it into 6 holes on the beach side and 12 holes on the mountain side. Ponds are involved in 13 of the 18 holes, and bunkers of various sizes are placed throughout the course. The greens are also slightly sloped, making it a highly strategic course. There is a good mix of easy and difficult holes. The fairways are not in good condition, but the greens are well maintained and the ball rolls well.
A hilly course. Of the 27 holes in total, A, B, and C, the best combination is the 18 holes of A and B, which were built first. The outward course is orthodox and gentle, but the inward course changes rapidly and is full of strategic holes involving water. The greens are generally protected by bunkers and water hazards, so you need to hit accurate, high balls to get a high score. Another feature is the large number of long bunkers (waste bunkers) that run along the fairway.
