ナワタニー ゴルフ コース

Navatanee Golf Course Bangkok

A flat and stately course surrounded by large trees. It has been famous since 1975, when the World Cup was first held in Asia, and is considered a prestigious course in Thailand. Until it opened in 1973, Thailand did not have a full-fledged golf course that met international standards. The fairway is a mix of wide and narrow, with trees lined on both sides. Water is involved in six of the 18 holes, and the waterside holes 5, 6, and 9 are particularly beautiful.
The placement of bunkers is also excellent, with many strategic holes. However, there are also a fair number of normal straight holes, and the overall impression is of an easy miniature garden course. The beautiful course design is in perfect harmony with the splendid trees, pretty flowers, and well-maintained shrubs, and it takes less than four hours to complete 18 holes, which is rare in Thailand, making play extremely comfortable. As it is close to the city center, transportation is convenient, and it is one of the best courses for relaxing golf. The Thailand Cup was also held here in 1999.

Course Introduction

A short middle with a slight dogleg to the left. On the tee shot, the tight fairway is all ponds on the left side, and two bunkers and a OB zone on the right side. The green is long and guarded by a pond in front of the left and a forest behind the bunker on the right side. The green slopes slightly to the left. The green is only 15 yards deep, so an accurate wedge shot is required for the second shot. Long hitters can reach the front edge with a distance of 260 yards from the white tee at 290 yards, making it possible to get on in one. However, as the fairway narrows as you get closer to the green, there is a risk involved. You will be forced to decide whether to make a tee shot or use a driver. This is a typical "risk and reward" hole.

A famous hole, a difficult middle with a dogleg to the left. On the tee shot, there is a pond on the left side, and if you hit too far to the right to avoid the pond, not only will the distance on the second shot be longer, but a group of mounds will be waiting, and a difficult shot will be required from the sloping lie. On the second shot, you will have to go over the pond, and the pond cuts into the front of the embankment green, so if you hit the green short on the second shot, you will be caught in the pond. If your tee shot is bad, it is wise not to aim for a difficult par on the second shot, but to cut it into the fairway 4 to 50 yards in front of the green, where a safe route is prepared in front of the green and you will have to go over the pond. The green is long vertically and is guarded by four bunkers on the left and right. It was selected as one of the world's best 500 holes in 2000 (latest edition) by the American Golf Magazine. It is a hole that you will be happy to get a par on.

A long shot with a dynamic layout that curves strongly to the left from the second point around a large pond. The water on the left side is a concern on the tee shot, but if you hit it safely to the right side, the second shot will be a long shot over the pond. In some cases, the second shot will not be over the pond, but will need to be carved into the same fairway. Usually, the left side of the second landing point also faces the pond, and two bunkers are strategically placed on the right side. The green is slightly elevated and slopes to the left, and is guarded by a pond on the left side and three bunkers on the right side. Tom Kite, in his heyday, tried to get on in two on this hole in a tournament several decades ago, but he hit the pond several times on the second shot and took more than 10 strokes. I once had the club re-measured after playing because the displayed distance was wrong. As it turned out, the displayed distance was not wrong, and it seems that a slight wind slightly upset Tom Kite's sense of distance. This hole is also a good "risk and reward" hole.

A beautiful short shot over a pond. The green is long and narrow with bunkers on both sides. The green slopes back from the center to the center.

A strong dogleg to the left. The bunker on the left corner and the cross bunker in the middle of the fairway come into play on the tee shot. The green is guarded by four bunkers, and a pond is on the immediate right side of the green. A ridge crosses the middle of the green. The green is placed diagonally from the front left to the back right, making it difficult when the pin is in the back right, and the second shot from the right side requires you to go over the pond and the bunker.

The tee shot and second shot are almost straight, but it is a long shot that curves to the right from the third point. There are four bunkers on the right side for the tee shot, and four more bunkers on both sides for the second shot. The green is slanted and guarded by three bunkers.

A beautiful short shot over a pond. The green is long and two-tiered, with bunkers on the left and back, and ponds on the front and right sides. If the pin is on the right, the pond comes into play, making it even more difficult.
