サイアム カントリークラブ (オールド コース)

Siam Country Club (Old Course) Pattaya

A hilly, forest course surrounded by large trees, carved into the mountains near Pattaya. It is one of the oldest courses in Thailand. It was completely renovated by Lee Schmidt in 2007. Unnecessary trees were cut down, the fairways and greens were re-sowed, and the shape of the greens was also drastically changed. In addition, fairway bunkers and greenside bunkers were created on all holes, making use of the natural terrain while transforming the course into a completely different course. The course is characterized by its undulating fairways surrounded by thick, tall trees and deep bunkers. The rough is deep and the greens are narrow, making it an extremely difficult course that requires accurate direction for every shot. There are few ponds, but many bunkers, and deep bunkers await at the point where each shot will land.

Course Introduction

The tee shot is a slight downhill dogleg hole to the right. There is a bunker in the right corner on the tee shot. There is a bunker in the center of the fairway 50 yards in front of the green, so you need to decide whether to cut in front or go over it. The green is long and elevated.

A slight dogleg to the right, uphill hole. You need some distance on the tee shot, but the landing area is narrow due to the bunkers on the left and right and the trees on both sides. In particular, the trees on the right jut out, so if you hit your tee shot to the right, it will be difficult to aim for the green on the second shot. The green is long and guarded by a bunker on the right side.

A left dogleg uphill hole. The second shot is difficult to judge the distance, and if you hit short of the green, the three bunkers in front will come into play. The green is guarded by three more bunkers from the right side to the back. The green is long and narrow.

This is a short hole with a slight downhill shot over a pond. The pond in front of the green has little strategic significance, but it does enhance the beauty of this hole. There are large bunkers on the right and back of the long green, and two small bunkers and a trimmed apron on the left.

A slight dogleg to the right, this is a middle hole. You can see a beautiful Buddha statue behind the green. On the tee shot, several overlapping bunkers on the left side come into play. The green is long and steeply sloping, with three elevated tiers. Bunkers are placed on both sides of the green.

A fairly straight, long middle hole. The tee shot is over a pond, and the landing area is narrow, sandwiched between bunkers on the left and right. The green is long and steeply sloping, and is guarded by two small bunkers on the front left and right.

A short hole with a long distance over a pond. The green is slightly elevated and has two bunkers on the front right.

A dogleg hole to the left. There is a river 270 yards from the tee and a pond on the left side of the fairway, so you need to judge the distance and accuracy of your tee shot. The green stretches from the front right to the back left, and is guarded by a large bunker in front.

A famous hole. It is an uphill hole that curves left and right with OB zones on the right. If you hit your tee shot to the right half of the fairway, your second shot will be easier. Beware of the three fairway bunkers on your second shot. The elevated, steeply sloping three-tiered green makes putting difficult.
