ザ ロイヤル ジェムズ シティ ゴルフ クラブ

The Royal Gems City Golf Club Bangkok suburbs (northern)

The out course imitates famous holes from around the world, and the in course perfectly copies the back nine of Augusta National. The overall flat terrain has been raised to create elevation differences. It is unusual for courses around Bangkok, with both downhill and uphill shots. The difference from Augusta is that the trees are still low and small, and the greens are not super fast, but once the trees grow large and densely packed, it is expected that the atmosphere will be closer to Augusta, except for the speed of the greens. The connections between the out holes are excellent, and the nine holes are almost perfectly designed as one golf course. It is a highly challenging and impressive golf course with plenty of strategy. Since it imitates the best parts of the world, the combinations of each hole are stunning, of course.

The holes that the out nine holes imitate are as follows:
1st: Oakmont CC (3rd), 2nd: Bay Hill C&L (6th), 3rd: TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course (17th), 4th: Doral R&CC (18th), 5th: Royal Troon GC (Old Course) (8th), 6th: St. Andrews (Old Course) (17th), 7th: Bethpage State Park GC (Black Course) (4th), 8th: Winged Foot GC (10th), 9th: The Belfry GC (Brabazon Course) (10th).

Course Introduction

  • The Royal Gems City Golf Club
  • The Royal Gems City Golf Club

A straight, tough middle course. There is a large bunker on the left side, and between them is a long, narrow mound of soil that looks like a row of "church chairs," with grass planted on top. From the tee, it looks like church chairs. Visually, the contrast between the white of the bunker and the green of the grass is wonderful, and it also makes the fairway seem narrower than it actually is, putting pressure on the tee shot. The tee shot is slightly downhill, and the second shot is slightly uphill.

This is a long, crescent-shaped dogleg to the left along the pond on the left. The fairway from the tee shot is narrow and slopes left towards the pond. The fairway narrows even more as you approach the green, so accuracy is required for the second shot. The green is further to the left, and the third shot is over the pond. The green is not very deep, and faces the pond on the front and left sides of the green, with a bunker waiting at the back.

A short par 3 with an island green. You need to aim at the green that stands alone on a small green. The original is a world-famous hole with an island green in the middle of a pond, and this design has since been adopted for new courses around the world.

A strong dogleg to the left with a pond on the left. The tee shot is over a beach bunker that stretches along the left side of the fairway. The pond cuts into the front of the green and faces the pond on the left, so the second shot over the pond requires accuracy. The green slopes sharply to the left, making it difficult to read the line of the putt.

A difficult dogleg to the right. In the original version, the tee shot goes over the St. Andrews Old Course Hotel, but here it goes over the bush. You will need to use a wood for the second shot, but the OB line on the right of the green is extremely shallow, so if the ball drifts to the right, it will immediately become OB. The green is 50 yards wide and has complex undulations. Even the pot bunker in front of the green and the road in the back are identical.

A long shot with a slight dogleg to the left. Be careful of the fairway bunker on the left when taking your tee shot. From the second shot onwards, you have to hit uphill. The second shot has to go over a large bunker. With two large bunkers located far in front of the green, this layout requires you to think carefully about which club to use and how to attack the second shot. The guard bunker in front of the green comes in handy.

A difficult par 3 with an elevated green and deep bunkers on both sides.

A dogleg to the left. After 220 yards from the tee, the course slopes downward. The second shot is a difficult one, as it must be dropped directly onto the elevated green from a downhill line. Large fairway bunkers are placed from about 120 yards in front of the green to close to it, exerting visual pressure and confusing the player's sense of distance. The original is 495 yards longer, and there are no trees, making this hole an exact copy.

A middle course with a dogleg to the right. If you hit it 225 yards from the tee, it will slope down, allowing you to gain distance. The fairway slopes to the left, so aim for the right side for your tee shot. The left and back of the green face a pond, so the key is how you attack your second shot and with what trajectory. The original is a very long 505 yards, and many pros at the Masters safely aim for the right edge of the green, where there is no pond involved, for their second shot.

A beautiful, short short course over a pond. It's not long, but if the wind speed exceeds 6 meters, it is said to be the most difficult short course in the world. The green is long from side to side and only about 20 yards deep, with bunkers at the front and back. From the tee, the green looks like a line, not a flat surface. This is a course where a misjudgment of distance can be fatal. The shot from the bunker at the back requires a delicate touch, and if you fail, the ball will roll off the green and fly into the pond. The green slopes to the right, and the original is the same length, 155 yards.

A long shot that curves almost at a right angle. It is best to attack the tee shot with a draw. If you go straight, the second shot will be quite a toe-up. A creek runs just to the left of the fairway and crosses in front of the green. The steeply sloping green can be a three-putt option depending on where you land. The original is 510 yards.

A nearly straight hole. The fairway is wide, but to get on in two, you need to hit the ball between two tall trees, 50 meters long and wide, in front. If you are successful, the ball will slope downward from there, so you can get on in two, but the pond in front of the green is in play. The green slopes to the left and back. If you go over the green, it will be very difficult to approach from the back. The original is 530 yards.

A difficult hole with a dogleg to the right and an uphill shot. The tee shot goes through a narrow corridor and aims for a fairway bunker 290 yards from the front tee. A fade is even better. You cannot see the green from the second shot. The bunker on the front left of the green is deep, so be careful not to hit it into it. The original is 465 yards and has a 24-yard elevation difference.
